Vacuum Cleaner Hospital History:
Humble Beginnings

On March 10, 1986 Tom Proctor opened the doors to the Vacuum Cleaner Hospital.  Working long hours, he single
handedly repaired all incoming "sick" vacuums, worked the sales floor and with some help from his fiancée,
Ruth (now Mrs. Proctor), got the bookkeeping done too. 

The store was modest, but Tom started with a bang - carrying the popular brands of vacuums.
Within a year a part time employee was hired to help with customer traffic sales and repair.

         
In 1990 VCH moved to it's current location and by the end of the year had a full time repair technician, David Vandergriff. 
David is still with the company today and has been a vital part of VCH's growth and excellent repair reputation. 

In 1992 a full time employee was hired to help with sales and bookkeeping.  Jody Witt, now our general manager,
shares our enthusiasm in helping our customers find solutions to their cleaning needs.

By 1995 VCH was installing central vacuum systems on a more regular basis. In 1996 a full time employee was hired to handle
the central vacuum department and in 1997 another employee was added to help with central vacuum installation and repairs.


By 1999 the showroom underwent a complete renovation.  New flooring, lighting and all new displays
were added to create a modern retail space. 

Today our challenge is to keep up with the current trends in the cleaning industry.  Vacuum companies are constantly coming
out with new machines on a monthly basis.  Our goal is to provide a higher quality product for our customers and
give the best customer service.
